De Riah Bridal Trends-Fascinated by Fascinators for 2012 Bridal Season!

As warmer months approach, we know that at both of De Riah’s Milwaukee area salons, we will soon be styling countless brides and bridesmaids throughout the remainder of 2012. While trends come and go, wedding traditions date back to the beginning of history. The bridal veil originated as a symbol of youth and virginity, but today the lifting of the veil, for that first kiss, is symbolic of the removal of the last barrier between herself and her spouse-to-be.

When Kate Middleton married Prince William last year, her guests wore fascinators and created a flurry of attention. This may have changed the course of bridal head wear, for many years to come. But, did you know that the fascinator has roots back to  180o’s in  England? Originally a headpiece, it referred to a fine, lacy head covering much like a shawl, that was made from wool or lace, but laden with feathers. It was historically  worn on special occasions as an alternative to the traditional hat.

A modern day fascinator is larger than a hair clip and can sport feathers, flowers, beads or beautiful fabric and  it is attached to the hair with a comb, headband or hair clip. Brides are wearing them as an alternative to a veil or hat especially if she is wearing a non-traditional wedding gown.

De Riah is always excited to work with your style. Bring in headpieces for your trial bridal styling so we can ensure your look will be perfect on your special day, accessories included!

OPI Nicki Minaj Collection at De Riah Boutique & Salon

Alright guys, we’re really excited about this one- the new, Nicki Minaj inspired collection by OPI. Polish is such a fun way to mix up your look, match nails to outfits and it’s great because it’s so easy to change! While we love all our OPI products (available at both our Cedarburg and Mequon salons), Nicki’s new line has a little extra “pop” that really seems to make it stand out (We may also secretly be hoping this is a good style omen for 2012 ). My personal, at-the-moment favorite is “Super Bass Shatter” but I know once warmer weather hits I’ll probably be sporting “Fly” on a regular basis. Curious? Click here to check out the colors or stop in to take a peek and pick up a few shades!
