The braid craze continues to hold court in the land of trends and Shannon Hanson, stylist at DeRiah Boutique Salon in Mequon, Wisconsin likes to put her own “twist” on the look by adding a bit of flair and personalization. First, she separates a small section of hair right where she wants the braid to start and applies Bumble & bumble Texture Crème for a natural hold. Next, she separates the section into three even sections. She then takes the first section on the right and crosses it over the middle. After adding some hair to the far right size, a thin section about the same size as the very first section, she crosses the far left section over the middle. She then grabs the same amount of hair added to the right, repeats that on the far left side, repeating the process until she has reached her desired length. “Once the braid is mastered, you can use it as the foundation of the style and personalize it by doing different things like curling the rest of the hair, straightening the rest, adding a messy side bun or a textured ponytail,” says Shannon.
