Ein Prosit! In just its fourth year – we’re excited about one of Cedarburg’s newer fall traditions – Cedarburg German Festival. Many of us here at De Riah Boutique Salon will be at this wonderful festival at Cedar Creek park near the downtown area. There are a lot of great activities including one of our favorites – a sheepshead (schafskopf) card playing tournament. This year with all the great bands playing, the musicians have their own covered stage area and even a wooden dance floor for polka fans! German food, beer, wine and desserts! Of course, this is all a big part of the festival too. Grill on the Go will be having its signature dishes of wood fired pork loin, rouladen, german potato salad, red cabbage and rye bread. Also, our local Cedarburg Lions Club will have bratwurst, (a Wisconin favorite for sure!) hot dogs, and turkey legs. If you’re looking for great German desserts – Boulangeries Du Monde will have a great variety of traditional treats for you as well. And the beer and wine… many of us like great German beers including Spaten Pilsner, Dunkel Weiss and Cedarburg’s own Cedar Creek Winery will have their award winning wines including Cedar Creek Riesling – a great german wine that is a Gold Medal winner. Whether your of German heritage or you want to be German for the weekend – there are a lot of activities for the whole family. Come see some of the more unique contests including the Frau Tragen-Lauf (wife carrying contest), Bier Eimer-Lauf (beer bucket races), best lederhosen & tracht attire (for both males & females) and the outhouse racing contest. They’ll even have a German spelling bee and sauerkraut eating competition. The festival is this Saturday from 11am to 8pm & Sunday from 12pm to 5pm.
