Why you shouldn’t wash your hair every day
While those with thin hair or a naturally oily scalp may be the exception, washing your hair every day is not ideal. Shampooing too frequently strips your hair of its natural oils, leaving it dry, brittle, and more susceptible to breakage. Hair thrives off a little oil, and it will allow your hair to feel and look softer and shinier!
How much you should wash your hair
For most people, it’s reasonable to wash your hair every 2-3 days! This is usually the perfect amount of time to allow your hair to soak up all the nutrients in its natural oils without it looking too greasy. For some people, this may seem like a long time between washes. However, the better you keep to this hair washing schedule, the faster your scalp will adjust and won’t get greasy as fast.
What happens if you go too long without washing your hair?
Some people can go weeks without washing their hair! This typically takes a lot of dedication to allow your hair to adjust to decreased shampooing, but it’s certainly possible! However, this method is not for everyone. We recommend shampooing at least once a week. Prolonged periods of not washing can cause buildup on the scalp, clogging hair follicles and preventing hair growth. It’s best to scrub out the dirt and oil here and there!
