It’s no secret that heat causes excessive hair damage. The heat can make hair frizzier, drier, and increase breakage and split ends. Unfortunately, sometimes we do have to use heat. The great news is that there are several things you can do to prevent damage to your hair! Check out these 3 tips about how to avoid heat damage to your hair.
Keep heat to a minimum
Using heat every day is horrible for your hair. It dries it out and makes it more brittle. Only use heat when you have to! Avoid blow-drying it by letting it air dry. Use heatless curling methods such as hair curlers and braiding to get natural curls.
Use on low settings
When you must use heat, use it on low settings. There is no need to turn your curling iron/straightener up to 400 degrees. Your hair is not an oven! Keep the temperature down to avoid unnecessary damage.
Heat protectant spray
Always use heat protectant spray when curling/straightening your hair! This is the best way to avoid damage while still using heat. We recommend using the Oribe Invisible Defense Universal Protection Spray. After misting this spray in your hair, it will be protected from thermal damage of up to 450 degrees and UV Rays.
